Quitting Wrinkles The Soul

This is actually the second part of a great quote I found. The full quote says: Age wrinkles the body; quitting wrinkles the soul. The quote is from Douglas MacArthur, an American general that died in 1964. When I spotted it I felt that it had a connection with what I am doing right now.

I know we can’t doing anything about aging. Perhaps make it a bit more healthy using the Limitless from Evolv, but wrinkles will come. That is a guarantee. But what is more interesting for me, is that second part of this great quote. Quitting wrinkles the soul! I am sure most of us has some kind of experience that confirms it. You have set up a goal for yourself or your business. For some reason the results does not show up when expected, or you simply lose faith in yourself. You decide to quit!

Feeling relieved? No, mostly not! Quitting before you reach your goal never feels good (unless something happens out of your control that leaves you no option). It wrinkles your soul.
And I guess one area where thousands of people quit has to do with exercise, weight-loss or starting a healthier life. And when you have failed enough times you really does not care anymore. I am no better than anyone else. I have quit many times. And always felt bad about it. So when I jumped on this 84 day health challenge, I had set my mind. Nothing in my control was going to stop me.

My end goals were set at a modest level to make sure they were reachable. But many times when you quit, your goals are not the problem. It has more to do with your own motivation and being consistent.
So, happy to say, I am now at day 51 of the 84 day challenge, and it is no longer a challenge really. It has become a habit. A good habit! I have not felt better in many years. Not mentally and definitely not physically. I am looking forward to our morning walk of around 3 km (2 miles) depending on the route we take. I have energy to pick up all these little projects on the farm that I have started and not completed instead of dropping down in the couch after dinner and not leaving until time for hitting bed.

I know I am lucky to have my lovely wife at my side in this, and it would have been harder some days being alone. So if you are thinking of doing something similar, see if you can find someone to share the challenge with. Maybe a good friend you could really challenge and bring out the competitive little one inside you?

To sum it up for today, don’t care about the wrinkles, care about your soul!
